What Is a Temporary Smart Lock Code?
Understand time-limited access codes and the situations where they can be useful.
A temporary smart lock code is a PIN that can be created for a limited period or specific purpose on compatible lock models. It can be useful when someone needs access without sharing an owner’s regular code.
For example, a household or small business may use a temporary code for a cleaner, guest, delivery coordination, contractor, or short-term tenant when the lock and app support that feature.
Temporary access still needs clear ownership. The person managing the lock should know how codes are created, changed, reviewed, and removed after they are no longer needed.
What to look at
- Whether the chosen model supports scheduled or temporary codes
- Who will create and remove codes
- How guests or workers will receive instructions
- A simple process for reviewing active access
Planning note: Exact equipment, placement, compatibility, wiring, and site requirements depend on the property and the chosen system. An on-site assessment can confirm the appropriate setup.
